Anniversary meets good purpose: HASYTEC hosts Maritime Sustainability Brunch

Kiel. The HASYTECgroup celebrated its 5th anniversary on 05 April 2022 and made a strong case for #fortheoceans with a supporting programme. Minister President Daniel Günther opened the event with an extensive and very personal greeting. Here, he did not miss the opportunity to congratulate on the anniversary and to emphasise the importance of the group of companies as a driver of innovation.

Past and future

HASYTEC’s co-founder Jan Kelling then gave the guests an insight into the company’s history. From the initial office container to typical start-up crisis situations combined with last-minute rescues to the current nomination for the German Environmental Award, he drew a complete picture of the past 5 years. Fittingly
Friederike Grönemeyer, press spokeswoman for Mein Schiff at TUI Cruises, announced plans to equip the entire seawater cooling systems of the Mein Schiff fleet with DBPi ultrasonic sound technology in the future to prevent fouling in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. The installation on Mein Schiff 6 is currently underway, Mein Schiff 3 will follow shortly. Jan Kelling emphasised the importance of this for Kiel and the Kiel Fjord, as both ships also call at Kiel.

Benefits for the environment

During the event, the HASYTEC founders presented a cheque for 25,000 euros to Björn Both, front man of the band Santiano. Both accepted the donation on behalf of Arved Fuchs and his Ocean Change expedition. Polar researcher Fuchs himself sent a video message from Iceland thanking him for the support. Fuchs is currently preparing the next research trip on the Dagmar Aaen, this time to the east coast of Greenland. The following live performance by Santiano provided a great atmosphere for all guests and a brilliant end to the festivities.
